Jessie completed her undergraduate degree in Psychological Science at the University of Queensland and her Masters of Professional Psychology at Australian Catholic University in Brisbane. She holds General Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and has diverse experience across community, youth, schools, and government organisations.
Jessie recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast and brings with her expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of mental health issues across the lifespan. Prior to joining the Thriving Minds Psychology Clinic, Jessie delivered psychological services to individuals and groups from a diverse and complex population with a range of clinical presentations and variations in risk and need, within a Correctional Centre. This included experience working with youth through to late adulthood; Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) individuals; people with intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury, developmental disorders, mental health concerns, addiction and/or heightened risk of self-harm or suicide. She has also worked with children, adolescents, and young adults across multiple Headspace centres in Brisbane, worked in schools as a guidance counsellor while completing a university externship, and supported young pregnant and parenting mothers and their families providing outreach case management and group programs.
As a psychologist, Jessie enjoys working collaboratively with clients to explore and develop a shared understanding of their presenting difficulties, tailoring interventions to suit each individual’s goals, circumstance and strengths, and equipping clients with the strategies to overcome difficulties. She is committed to creating a non-judgmental and welcoming environment and is genuine and authentic in her interactions, utilising a warm, open and empathetic approach. Jessie believes that wellbeing and vitality come from incorporating a holistic approach to health care. This includes taking into consideration the mental, emotional, physical (exercise, sleep, and diet), social and spiritual states of well-being and how they interact to inform goals and treatment.
She utilises a range of evidence based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness in order to create positive change and assist clients to live healthy fulfilling lives. Jessie is passionate about assisting children, adolescents, and adults with a range of difficulties such as: anxiety, depression or mood related issues, stress management, adjustment issues, anger management, relationship difficulties, alcohol or drug addiction, self-esteem issues, and suicidality/self-harming behaviour.
