We’ve had another unusual and challenging start to the year, and it seems to be continuing. Covid, School year delays and now school closures due to flooding ….. And it’s only week 6.
QLD Heath have released a series of “Birdie” books to tackle tough conversations. Including, “Birdie and the Virus” and “Birdie and the Flood”. Steve Bidulph reflects that there is no difficult situation our children cannot get through if we make room for and support the difficult feelings that come with it.
You might like to review the books that are relevant to any concerns to your family at the moment and then have a conversation about how you are all feeling about everything that is going on. It can also be helpful to identify all of the helpers who are working hard to keep us safe in these times.
Remember, it is normal to feel more overwhelmed than normal when we face these unusually circumstances and difficult times.
If you or you family continue to feel overwhelmed, Psychologists can be a helpful addition to the above resources.
